|This training will give you the confidence and skills to design any aspect of your life. We will be using the design web to create a design for ourselves as well as exploring how it can best be used in different scenarios.
During our time together we will focus on how we can dedicate our energy to finding solutions for ourselves and the world. This will be a richly nourishing, empowering and truly life transforming course.
During the course you will
This course is designed to help us grow, shift through old patterns and beliefs, and support us in manifesting our dreams, while grounding this vision in a realistic design for ourselves.
People Centred Design
In 2012 Looby published People and Permaculture. This was the first book globally that directly explored how to use permaculture design and principles for people – to restore personal, social and planetary well-being. People and Permaculture is a pioneering book which has widened the definition of permaculture, taking it right into the heart of our own lives, relationships and society, making permaculture relevant to everyone. (you can buy signed copies of People and Permaculture directly from Looby here)
For this book Looby created a new design framework specifically for use with people based designs – the design web. Since 2012 many hundreds of designs have been created using this. People all around the world have used the design web to bring their dreams into reality, to improve relationships, enhance businesses, and bring organisations into alignment. Some types of designs from personal health designs tackling a particular illness to organisations wanting to rethink their strategies, from managing your own well-being while full-time caring for others to creating a safe world for women and children. The design web can be used to create designs in any zone –
Zone 00 – designing for ourselves
Zone 0 – designing our intimate relationships
Zone 1 – designing for groups and workplaces
Zone 2 – designing for bigger organisations & businesses
Zone 3 – designing for towns and cities
Zone 4 – designing on a national level e.g. national schools, governance, healthcare
Zone 5 – conceptual global designs
Looby is now writing another book which delves deeper into the different applications of the design web as well as sharing the opportunities and challenges.
If anyone has used the design web please share your story with Looby by completing the survey here.
Interwoven with this will be the newly evolving Cultural Emergence tools and principles that has been co-created by Looby and Jon Young in 2016.
Humanity is presently at a time of mass cultural emergency; we see the personal, social, political and environmental problems as stemming from a lack of cultural understanding and cohesion. We believe there are tools that can help turn this around into mass cultural emergence; where abundance, gratitude, care and connection are part of our everyday culture. Emergence is a term used in systems thinking where 2 or more things come together with unexpected results. By bringing people together with these tools and methods we have the opportunity to ask good questions and to co-create answers and solutions and emerge the culture we want.
We will look at the many levels of culture, right through from our own personal culture and patterns of being, to the global context. We will share tools, techniques, processes and ways of being, thinking and seeing differently that enable breakthroughs to occur. Inviting what may previously seem impossible to become possible through collaboration, co-creating and emergence.
People will be invited to nurture the visions they hold for themselves, their communities and the world. You will have the opportunity to consider your contribution to the world and empower yourself to keep to your true path in life.
Who is it for?
You do not need specific knowledge of the design web or permaculture to attend this course. This course will also be of interest to those that are familiar with permaculture that wish to develop their people based designing, or specialise in this area.
This course is particularly aimed at:
What will the course give you?
The experiential feel of the course
The foundation for this course is the creation of our own designs. This enables us to integrate the learning into our entire being as well as having a tangible outcome. This will be a richly textured course with creative teaching methods used throughout, such as group work, discussions, observation, visualisations. These are supportive of different learning styles & for people with learning difficulties. There will also be plenty of fun and games, socialising, singing and music.
Come prepared to stretch yourself and create a new direction in your life.
Empowerment is the essence of the course. We will be using practical and theoretical teaching methods to create a fun, lively & inclusive course. As a group we will benefit from collaborative learning & from having fun together. We recognise that everyone has their own unique skills, knowledge & areas of interest to bring to the course.
Comments from previous participants
“I didn’t expect this to be such an emotional experience for me. In some ways the effects come from the safe space as much as from the course content and I really appreciate the witnessing and honouring of my process. I’ve gone deep and come back to the surface with clarity that I’m on the right path and I need to stop putting pressure on myself to move quickly. I’ve also laughed more this week than I have in a long time (and I laugh quite a lot anyway!)”
“I expected to learn about myself, connect with other people and experience a magic when intentional people come together and to be spiritually nourished and challenged – I experienced all these and have grown as a human being. I’m sure it’s just the first step.”
“It has helped me to grow in a very big way. I feel I have shifted something. I wasn’t sure how these ways of thinking would help me, but they have indeed now become a tool I will try and use everyday, helping me on my journey.”
“I’m more open, more honest, more ready and more poised for the future!”
Concessions (limited places available for students, pensioners and those on benefits) £350

What to bring
Enthusiasm and an openness to whatever magic presents itself as a new community of like minded people come together.
